Welcome to Department of Electronics & Telecom Engineering

The Department is offering B. Tech and M.Tech in “Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering”. Due to the dedicated involvement of faculty members and students, R&D and consultancy activities of the department in terms of funded projects, publications, collaborative projects and consultancies have excelled during the last decade. The department has been carrying out R&D activities in diverse areas such as Adhoc Networks, Mobile Communication, Smart Antenna, Microwave Engineering, Analog VLSI, Pattern Recognition, VLSI Implementation of DSP and Communication System and Image Analysis & Computer Vision.

The excellent placement record of our students has been consistent for the last several years. This gives ample testimony to our efforts to keep the students in pace with the industrial needs. Apart from the regular course curriculum, the department is imparting various industry oriented skill based training with a raise to incorporate the fast-changing technological trends in the field of Electronics and telecommunication Engineering.

Most of the Alumnae are well recognized and have excelled in their career in reputed national and multinational industries, R&D sectors, software companies and teaching profession. The department has a close interaction with the alumni members and is continuously using their inputs for improvement of the quality of teaching & learning process and research facilities. The focus of the B. Tech. degree is on the basics and advance level of Communication Technologies. The curriculum is so designed as to give adequate emphasis on the digital processing of information for efficient communication over noisy channels. In tune with the above objective, the syllabus features core courses like DSP Architectures and Systems, Communication Switching Systems, Computer Networks, Communication Electronic Circuits, Microwave Components and Circuits, Satellite Communication, Devices and Systems used in modern electronics communication, giving a balanced coverage of the theory and practice of modern communication engineering. The core programme is supplemented and further reinforced by a well chosen set of elective courses permitting the students to specialize either in the software or the hardware aspect of communication systems. The analog and digital electronics circuits have grown enormously in complexity and functionality in this IT age. To cope with this trend, knowledge and experience on the use of computeraided design automation tools have become mandatory. In order to cater to the practical inputs required by the programme, a VLSI design laboratory is equipped with CAD tools and FPGA boards from Xilinx, complete ASIC design tool set from Cadence, Mentor Graphics, Tanner and PCB design tools such as ORCAD and SPRINT. The Basic Electronics, Analog Electronics Circuit and Digital Electronics Circuit Laboratories are well equipped with various equipment such as Complete Workstation Test Bench, Digital Storage Oscilloscope, Digital IC Tester, LCR Q Meter (Atten and MCP, China). The Microprocessor and Microcontroller Laboratory is catering to the needs of the curriculum with 8085, 8086, 8051 trainer kits and various interfacing cards. The Analog Communication, Digital Communication and Communication Engineering Laboratories are well versed with latest equipment such as Spectrum Analyzer, Satellite Communication Trainer Kit, Modulation Trainer Kits, Antenna Trainer Kits, Mobile Phone Trainer Kits and Optical Fiber Trainer Kits. The Digital Signal Processing Laboratory provides the students an excellent platform to work with Advanced DSP Processors like TMS320C67XX series.

The focus of the M. Tech. Degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering is a thorough and indepth study of Communication theory from a signal processing perspective as exemplified by courses like Modern Digital Communication Techniques, Information Theory, Coding and Cryptography, Digital Switching and Telecommunication Networks, Mobile Communication, Digital Image Processing, Advanced Digital Signal Processing, Wireless Sensor Networks, Analog and Digital VLSI, Smart Antennas and Digital Communication Receivers. A broad theoretical base is provided through, 'Probability and Stochastic Processes' and 'Signal Detection and Estimation'. The students also undergo laboratory programmes on the design and implementation of communication subsystems based on DSP modules (TMS320C6411 and TMS320C6413).

Research work in the department has got a new impetus since the inception of the M.Tech program in the year 2007.
